"I see early childhood education, all education really,as a civil rights issue. Because the right to what we think about in relationship to childhood. A childhood that leaves you ready for optimum life experiences. A childhood and an educational context experienced throughout your life cycle that opens up the door to you, that gives you the tools to ask questions and investigate things. Those are the things I want for all children."
Hi Sharita,
ReplyDeleteI too enjoyed Renatta M. Cooper as she states, "all education is a civil rights issue." I like how she views her work as equity feminist work. Giving women the right to have a choice to stay home if they like as oppose to having only the options of centers or home cares to choose from.
Lewanda, I agree that women should have a choice. As much as I love working with young children and helping them develop I believe having time to build that relationship between parent and child is also important.
DeleteHi Sharita, I love your quote by Marian Wright-Edelman. Education is very important so a difference can be made.
ReplyDeleteHi, I agree that education is important and Marian Wright Edelman has a lot of great quotes.
DeleteSharita, great post! I really like the quote from Janet Gonzalez-Mena M.A. It similar to Stanley Greenspan's theory of letting the child take lead!
ReplyDeleteHi Jamie, you I enjoyed reading your post as well. Stanley Greenspan's theory is great because he said "as we enter their shared world"; we learn from children as they learn from us.
